The AMVETS Career Center was created by AMVETS, Department of Ohio to provide training and assistance to

• Recently separated veterans and returning members of the National Guard and   Reserves
• Veterans who are homeless or unemployed
• Veterans who are underemployed or want to improve their work related skills
• Veterans who want to prepare for a new career or find a better job
• Active duty military personnel who are preparing for life after military service
• All Honorably discharged Veterans

AMVETS Career Center Services

AMVETS Career Center services are free to veterans and military personnel who have served our nation honorably. The Salem post 45 Satellite Center provides

• Career assessment and exploration services

• Skill upgrade training for veterans who want to work in civilian careers that are similar to their military occupations

• Online computer training and computer courses with over 1500 titles to choose from

• Resume preparations,  job readiness training and job search coaching

AMVETS Career Center offices do Not provide job placement services, but placement assistance is available from veterans employment representatives in the Ohio department of Job and Family services

AMVETS Career Center Facilities

The Post 45 Satellite Career center includes a two station computer lab that provides access to computer based and internet based training.

In addition to office productivity such as Microsoft Word, Access and Excel, veterans have access to software for career exploration, resume writing and job searching. Other software provides self paced learning about business and technical courses. Some courses are pre requisites for certification. Upon completion of a certification course the Career Center will pay for the veteran to go to an accredited testing center to take the certification test.

The Center also provides instructor led learning on career exploration, job search techniques and a variety of work related courses that are developed as the needs arise.
